When talking about nature tourism, the region of Sancti Spiritus cannot be left aside. Possibilities are so many that there are still areas which can be considered unexplored, because from time to time, new species of plants, flowers or animals are announced.
Banao Hills Ecological Reserve is just one example of what I’m talking about. It’s not far from the city of Sancti Spiritus, and is connected to other nearby areas like La Sabina. Over 260 endemic species have been so far reported at Banao Hills, some of which are said to be native of the Guamuhaya mountain range.
These splendid regions are free of wild animals, and are included into protected areas programs intended to preserve and enhance their life.
Other territories of the province such as Trinidad, Yaguajay and Fomento also exhibit wonderful sites with significant biodiversity and rich landscape, two unquestionable characteristic of nature tourism.
