Like an oasis in the middle of the desert, snack bars or cafeterias are out there waiting to give a warm welcome to customers in Sancti Spiritus.

These light food places are among the most common self-run businesses in Cuba. They have really proliferated since the very first moment in which self-employment began to grow in the island a few years ago.

They can be found everywhere, their hours depending on the specific area where they are located. Most of them are built within the limits of dwellings, like the one depicted in the photo, and their menus depend on the possibilities and skills of the owners.

Despite their development, there are just a few of such cafeterias which, like the one in the photo, have been able to uninterruptedly delight clients both with the service and with the offer.
