This building found at one of the corners of Sancti Spiritus’s historic area has been known for long as the green medicine pharmacy. Nevertheless, it was used as dwelling for many years.

According to records, the house, which was quite larger than it is today, was owned by the Estrada family in the XVIII century. It was repeatedly inherited and sold away until most of the rooms were hired for business sometime after 1860s.

One of the rooms was used as a barbershop, other was the headquarters of a tobacco factory owned by a Spaniard, and a third was used to sell lottery tickets. After 1940, several other facilities were established in the building and nearby houses, like Farmacia 400 (Pharmacy 400).

When the whole building was set for restoration in 1985, it was decided to save the area occupied by Farmacia 400 due to its location right in front of the Mayor Church tower, and to its conservation status.
