Not far away from the Mayor Church, there is this small intimate park known as Plaza Fundación de la Ciudad (Foundation of the City Plaza).
The place has nothing to do with the original foundation site of the village. It was named after its 480 foundation anniversary twenty years ago.
Like several other sites in town, this plaza is an example of what local creators do to honour the city every time a new anniversary approaches.
Plaza de la Fundación, as it’s mostly called, is located at the entrance of the city boulevard, within the so-called historic area of the town. Several other interesting sites are near, such as the Principal Theater, the bridge over Yayabo River, and the House of the Guayabera.
